On December 4, 2022, I defeated you, Tany Yao, in a resounding message from the people of Fort McMurray. The people had had enough—enough of your detached representation and failure to address their pressing concerns. That #victory wasn’t just about me; it was a clear rejection of your approach to leadership and an overwhelming call for #change.
But instead of accepting that mandate from the people, you and your handlers found a way to #disqualify me, reverting to backroom tactics to hold onto power. It was a betrayal of #democracy and a glaring example of prioritizing #political survival over the will of the people.
One might have thought that such a wake-up call would force you to reflect and finally serve the community with sincerity. Yet here you are, repeating the same pattern of neglect. Instead of showing #accountability, you’re hiding from the people who entrusted you with the responsibility to lead. Where are the initiatives to address #healthcare, #education, and the struggles of working families? Where is the transparency, the dialogue, the service that leadership demands?
The #people of #FortMcMurray deserve better. You can’t silence voices forever, and you can’t keep ignoring the needs of the #community. Eventually, your neglect will catch up with you, and the people will remind you once again that they are the true power in this democracy.
